It's time for an Intervention (pt. 2)

Art Intervention

From Wikipedia

An art intervention is an interaction with a previously existing artwork, audience or venue/space. It has the auspice of conceptual art and is commonly a form of performance art. It is associated with the Viennese Actionists, the Dada movement and Neo-Dadaists. It has also been made much use of by the Stuckists to affect perceptions of other artwork which they oppose, and as a protest against an existing intervention.

Although intervention by its very nature carries an implication of subversion, it is now accepted as a legitimate form of art and is often carried out with the endorsement of those in positions of authority over the artwork, audience or venue/space to be intervened in. However, unendorsed (i.e. illicit) interventions are common and lead to debate as to the distinction between art and vandalism [1]. By definition it is a challenge, or at the very least a comment, related to the earlier work or the theme of that work, or to the expectations of a particular audience, and more likely to fulfil that function to its full potential when it is unilateral, although in these instances, it is almost certain that it will be viewed by authorities as unwelcome, if not vandalism, and not art.

recurring wiki obsession

Hatred or hate is a word that describes intense feelings of dislike. It can be used in a wide variety of contexts, from hatred of inanimate objects to hatred of other people.

Philosophers have offered many influential definitions of hatred. Rene Descartes viewed hate as an awareness that something is bad, combined with an urge to withdraw from it. Baruch Spinoza defined hate as a type of pain that is due to an external cause. Aristotle viewed hate as a desire for the annihilation of an object that is incurable by time. Finally, David Hume believed that hate is an irreducible feeling that is not definable at all.[1]

In psychology, Sigmund Freud defined hate as an ego state that wishes to destroy the source of its unhappiness[2]. In a more contemporary definition, the Penguin Dictionary of Psychology defines hate as a "deep, enduring, intense emotion expressing animosity, anger, and hostility towards a person, group, or object."[3] Because hatred is believed to be long-lasting, many psychologists consider it to be more of an attitude or disposition than a (temporary) emotional state (see rage).

Sergey Bratkov: Heldenzeiten
Winterthur, Switzerland
Fotomuseum Winterthur
Now through August 24

Viewers of this mid-career retrospective of Ukrainian-Russian photographer Sergey Bratkov can witness socialism veering precipitously into capitalism. In more than 130 images taken following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Bratkov captures the everyday lives of people ranging from secretaries to street children, starting with a display of art-action documents from avant-garde '90s Ukrainian collective the Fast Reaction Group, a nod to the artist's early days. More recently, Bratkov's Kids series depicted children auditioning for advertising roles, posing like young Lolitas caught between two ages, much like post-Soviet society itself. For Army Girls, Bratkov introduced himself as a Playboy photographer and snapped female soldiers wearing full military gear in centerfold-ready poses. This ironic show title, Heldenzeiten (Glory Days), evokes the ideological clichés of heroic portraits, as exemplified in Bratkov's Steelworkers series. - Marlyne Sahakian

as we emerge from the water....

Remember CREATION takes place in four steps, using the four elements. The idea or air ~ that was May and June. The vision, inspiration or fire ~ that's what's been happening for a while ~ Pluto in Sadge. The emotions or water ~ that was July and August. Now we get to the earth part. You've been creating for a while. Pluto is about to get out of Sadge and move into Earth. The time ahead is your opportunity to create the next chapter of your life. And the time right now is to say so long, farewell to the last chapter of your life. Hug it, kiss it, give it a back rub, boil water for tea and break out the cookies. That last chapter was SO important to who you are and where you are going. Love it for the contribution it made to your life. It was incredibly profound.

all about eggs

A soufflé is a light, fluffy, baked dish made with egg yolks and beaten egg whites combined with various other ingredients and served as a savory main dish or sweetened as a dessert. The word soufflé is the past participle of the French verb souffler which means "to blow up" or more loosely "puff up" — an apt description of what happens to this combination of custard and egg whites. all about...tea eggs

Tea eggs are simply hard-boiled eggs that have been further stewed in a salted tea liquid. Other flavourings such as soy sauce and Chinese five-spice powder are often added as well. The eggs are actually boiled twice. After the first boiling, when the insides are hardened, the shell of each egg is lightly cracked. The eggs are then boiled for much longer duration in the black tea mixture for a second time, which allows the flavour of the tea to penetrate deep into the egg. The dark colour of the tea also stains through the cracks of the eggs creating a pattern on the peeled eggs that resembles the crazing of some ceramic glaze surfaces. (wiki)

all about eggs....

because I LOVE deviled eggs......oooh...why don't i have one of these fancy plates?!

The term "deviled" dates back to the 19th century, referring to the use of particularly hot spices in cooking. Contemporary versions of deviled eggs may include a wide range of seasonings and added foods, such as garlic, horseradish, wasabi, cheese, chutney, capers, salsa, hot sauce, mushrooms, spinach, sour cream, caviar, smoked salmon, or other seafood. all about eggs

Century egg, also known as preserved egg, hundred-year egg, thousand-year egg, and thousand-year-old egg, is a Chinese cuisine ingredient made by preserving duck, chicken or quail eggs in mixture of clay, ash, salt, lime, and rice straw for several weeks to several months, depending on the method of processing. After the process is completed, the yolk becomes a dark green, cream-like substance with a strong odor of sulfur and ammonia, while the white becomes a dark brown, transparent jelly with little flavor or taste. The transforming agent in century egg is its alkaline material, which gradually raises the pH of egg from around 9 to 12 or more.[1] This chemical process breaks down some of the complex, flavorless proteins and fats, which produces a variety of smaller flavorful compounds. GUEST PËNZ -- A Conversation After Teeth

Submitted by Bettina Judd

A Conversation After Teeth

What do you think happened?
What makes you think something happened?

She has no teeth. Something must have happened.
What if she just doesn’t have teeth?

No one just doesn’t have teeth. Someone must have hit her.
Like who?

Like, a husband, a boyfriend, a jealous girlfriend or something.
What if she knocked out her own teeth?

That’s ridiculous. No woman would not want her teeth.
What if this woman didn’t?

That’s impossible.
What if she needed to be free?

Needed to be free of what?
Of being a woman with teeth.

That doesn’t make sense.
Take Britney Spears for example…

That’s completely different. That was her hair.
She needed to be free.

No woman would not want her teeth.
It stands to reason…

Knocking out ones teeth is reasonable?
Maybe to her…

That’s insane, no woman would not want her teeth.
What if this woman didn’t? What if she wanted to be free?

What if she didn’t?
