Pënz Travels To NYC

Pënz and Ghada Amer's work from the show "Love Has No End"

Pënz and the Truck at Union Square

A close up...

So, I've been in NYC for about 36 hours now...almost, and have had the opportunity to drop Pënz in various places - even the subway. Today, on my way home, I saw this beautiful artist looking cat on the platform and had to go back and give him a Pënz - if you read this, sorry I didn't get your name, but I'm excited about your work.

And I've been thinking all day about performance as transgression. The transgression of social and institutional rules, relationships, spaces. A security guard was following me around the gallery for about 15 minutes when I turned to him and asked him if there was something wrong. He said he wanted to know if I(we) were enjoying the exhibit, and then disappeared. After he disappeared, I planted a Pënz against the column. And then, I dropped another one in the video viewing room for the "Dinner Party" piece. All in the dark and stuff.

Handing Pënz to a stranger feels kind of like inviting someone into something bigger than both of us. Trangressing expectations and boundaries. No pressure.

Let's see where Pënz and NYC meet tomorrow.

Magic! A secret tile....

I'm feeling anxious about the fact that its night already, and tomorrow will be morning. The day flys by so quickly! The sun will be coming up soon, and with it, my penz energies will awaken from their slumber...By the way, a magic tile will be left somewhere in the city tonight. Who will find it? North, South, East, West....where could it be? A hinted picture will be here soon!

NASA can be an ass. But still, you get the gist:

Feb. 13, 2008: On Wednesday evening, February 20th, the full Moon over the Americas will turn a delightful shade of red and possibly turquoise, too. It's a total lunar eclipse—the last one until Dec. 2010.

The Sun goes down. The Moon comes up. You go out and look at the sky. Observing the eclipse is that easy. Maximum eclipse, and maximum beauty, occurs at 10:26 pm EST (7:26 pm PST).

A Riddle

Two men, starting at the same point, walk in opposite directions for 4 meters, turn left and walk another 3 meters. What is the distance between them?

2 meters
6 meters
10 meters
12.5 meters
14 meters

Decisions, decisions....

So, while eating 6 slices of pepperoni pizza yesterday (yeah, I know, I can pack it away) I realized that though my mouth may like the greasy, cheesy goodness that is known as Lil' Ceasers (yeah, i know, GROSS!), my stomach probably does not. So after deciding to stop eating pizza for a while (or atleast cut back to 2 slices!), I also chose to educate myself on the magical food that brings so many together, pizza
---Warning! This may make your mouth water! This may make you want melted cheese dribbled into your mouth by your lover! This may cause you to ravenously crave bread covered in marinara!---

The lunar eclipse is a leaving energy. We humans don’t like the leaving energies so much. We are a bit resistant to change, especially changes we didn’t or don’t want. The solar eclipse two weeks ago was a new beginning energy that preceded the leaving energy. So many facets of your life are changing. The leaving parts make room for the new parts to arrive. Right now, or actually toward the end of the week, it will probably hurt quite a bit. Birth is not an easy process. You are giving birth to a new chapter in your life. Be grateful for where you are. Alive on this glorious planet of blue, green, brown, and all the colors of the rainbow. Exalt in the pain ~ it there is any ~ it proves you are alive, feeling and that you care. Exalt in the joy, fear, happiness, anxiety and evolutionary process before you as they prove you are alive, feeling and that you care. You care deeply. That is why this might hurt so much. And no, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t care again. It means you must honor the role of caring in your life. As the Tin Man said, “I know I have a heart because it is breaking!”

WHOA!!

For some reason, the word "Vestibule" came to mind when remembering I had to post. So, in perfect fashion, I decided to google it. Loa and behold, what I discover....

The vestibular system, or balance system, is the sensory system that provides the dominant input about movement and equilibrioception. Together with the cochlea, a part of the auditory system, it constitutes the labyrinth of the inner ear, situated in the vestibulum in the inner ear.

Labyrinths again on my mind! Could this be the effect of the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon?
Q. What is the philosophical difference between a maze and a labyrinth? Draw your answer.

Now that I know what a labyrinth is....

I can learn about labyrinthitis....

Labyrinthitis is a balance disorder. It is an inflammatory process affecting the labyrinths that house the vestibular system (which sense changes in head position) of the inner ear.

In addition to balance control problems, a labyrinthitis patient may encounter hearing loss and tinnitus. Labyrinthitis is caused by a virus, but it can also arise from bacterial infection, head injury, an allergy or as a reaction to a particular medicine. Both bacterial and viral labyrinthitis can cause permanent hearing loss, although this is rare.
